My Story
My child was excited to finish high school and ready to transition to college. As she started the lengthy application and scholarship process, our excitement quickly began to disappear as I began to realize the challenges with navigating the college application and scholarship process.
My daughter Is a hardworking student; however, she was disappointed with the lengthy process, little support and the time pressure and she started procrastinating, which cost us valuable opportunities and thousands in potential scholarships.
She was under pressure to complete the application within the deadline, it was tough to support her, and I felt lost trying to find the right mentor or resources.
I felt overwhelmed, because I knew the time was ticking very fast and she had loads of college applications that needed to be completed. I supported her as best as I could, however, she needed someone who could give her insight to effectively navigate the lengthy college application and scholarship process within a short period.
After reaching out to another parent, we finally found our way forward, my daughter received the support and was excited again. I felt happy that we finally found a way and started to make progress.
I know that there are students and parents that are faced with the stress and challenges that we experienced 3 years ago.
To help students, we have a Two-Day College Prep Conference. Students and parents will receive available resources and gain insights on the college application process to reduce the stress experienced during this period of transition.
We plan to address topics on college choices and career strategies. This is also a great opportunity to listen to our current college students and recent graduates share their journeys that will inspire you.
This event aims to build a supportive community and provide the tools necessary for a successful transition to college.
